Just checking in - it has been a while since I communicated.
I will start with the most recent and work my way backwards.
With this blog

First I want to answer some questions that have been ask.

1. Is Soup still with Eikon?

The answer is YES!
I am still the Executive Director of Eikon Ministries.

1. Does Soup still live in Binghampton?

The Answer is YES!

1. How is Eikon Impacting Memphis?

Eikon Staff developed and direct several out reaches and relational contact points on the local level.
This is done by volunteering at the schools, community center, coaching teams from basketball to dance. Youth are taught in the areas of Manhood and Womanhood, how to have a daily quiet time, how to grow in the Word of God and live in obedience to the Word  of God, how to share their Faith with others. Eikon has a summer camp and take youth to Kids Across America Camp every summer.
The staff will take the discipled youth on Sumner training trips to see Universities, different cities and environments.

These youth and staff are working change in their community from the inside out.
All Eikon Staff live in the Binghampton community.
Eikon also has a residential program that provides an opportunity for college graduates to live and minister in Binghampton for a year. Many of them stay and live in Binghampton or other Urban communities in Memphis.
In the year 2015
Eikon Staff  shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ with 444 people and had 81 in consistent Study of God's Word.

4. Does Soup travel?
The answer is YES!
Eikon Ministries - from it's beginning in 1997 has always been a Disciple making ministry. That is who we are and what we do.
Our geographical boundaries have never be totally localized to one people group, neighborhood, city, state , country or continent.
The Great Commission - (Matthew 28:19-20 is a mandate (command) from our Lord Jesus Christ is to "make disciples" of/in all nations.
This is the foundation that Eikon Ministries is built on from the beginning. I was doing training trips - locally nationally and globally before Eikon Ministries was established. We use the local setting as a spring board for global impact - being obedient to our Lord's Commission.
In Eikon - We do the same training global as we do local - because the mandate and the Word of God does not change. The same training and equipping we do in Binghampton - we do all over the US and the world.
We have a great staff in:

Willie Baldwin, Rasheema Pit,
Faye Kelly, Linda Campbell and Lanell Burton.
We have been able to expand and add more global training 
trips. There is a great need for trained leaders in many countries around the world and the request for Eikon to come and bring trainers is still increasing.
Over the past 19 yrs - Eikon Ministries has taken 1000+ people on training trips around the world (300+ in Far East Asia  alone)

People that have traveled with us to assist in the training are from Binghampton and other neighborhoods in Memphis, TN. , from other cities in the USA, from several different churches and demoninations
,from other countries that we have trained in and will meet us in another country to assist in the training .
Eikon Ministries has had the opportunity to train multiple thousands in Disciple Making - modeled after the Standard of Jesus Christ.
We give thanks to the Father, all glory and praise be to HIM.
Thank you who have partnered with us over these years, in prayer, encouragement, support, travel, training. We hope you will continue to partner with us.

In 2015 we were able to:
Take 14 training trips to 9 different countries,
Trained 3912 Pastors and leaders.
78 trainers assisted from the USA.
Thank you for your prayers and support to take Biblical disciple training global through Eikon Ministries.
The next blogs will have some catch up in them from the past few months - these are exciting times to be pursuing or Lord Jesus Christ and to partner with Him in pursuing those who are FAR from HIM.

BLOG #4

Hey Fam

Well it is time to travel to phase 2 of this 63 day journey.
Napal is a great teaching and training venue. The core leadership here want to be better equipped to take the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the Globe. The globe is here - so many tourist, and business people from all over the world and groups of folks escaping something (society,structure,authority and looking for their higher selves - I guess) but by their appearance I think it puts them in the Yeti family (look up Yeti).
The leaders here have great inroads for ministry to the Buddhist and Hindu followers.
They are surrounded by them, so you know what that means "they can all get away"
Our team is a Downline Team(Downlineministries.com) lead by (2015) alumnus Kevin Johnston (K-Diddy) I got to know and became tight friends with Kevin over the past 18 years - we connected on the Emmaus Walk 98 and have been kicking it every since - up close and personal (good brother - close brother- duck popper eating brother.)

This is his 3rd trip here. He did a excellent job leading and helping us navigate all the travel and teaching venues. Plus he kept us well fed, and that is real important to me - we got to get our eat on out here. The other DL team members were Lauren O'Dell (DL Little Rock)  Chris Potte and Sam Watson (Memphis)
They were prepared and delivered - Chris taught the Security of the Believer and Sam taught 20 Biblical Clarification, Lauren taught the 10 Qualifications of a Disciple - maker to the ladies.
They taught their lessons multiple  times. ( You must be ready to deliver when you arrive - no time for prep after you get boots on the ground (jet lag, travel etc..)
Kevin has built a great relationship with the key man - Anand Tamang (his beautiful wife's name
Is Chiri -   like Cheerio without the "o") Anand has a vast network of  Pastors and leaders in the cities and in the hard places like the mountainous villages - (you got to put on your big boy and big girl stuff - you got to have your mind right and be in good physical shape to go up in there or you gonna be wanting yo mama) hard travel, hard living (for us) but for them - it is everyday living. " I wrote a letter to my parents last week to thank them for allowing me and my brothers to be rough and tumbling boys and enjoy the adventures of living on a farm and exploring all day in the woods and riding our ole crazy horse and pony (Trigger - he was (mean- would buck and run you through trees and bite) and Lightning who was one eyed and 2 steps slower than smoke -?how he got the name lighting still makes us scratch our heads) and for allowing us so much time with the grandparents - who had no running water - had wood stove for heat and cooking (summer and winter) and had out side toilet (or fence row - some of you Ole school know what I am talking about)
That prepared me for this stuff man.


We trained in Itahari (50 trainees) and Bhaktapur  Katmandu (35 trainees)
People would travel great distances and sit and sleep on the floors in the building where the training took place (no heat) They are amazing people in pursuit of the teaching of the Word of God.
What a great responsibility for us to be ready to deliver - when they have endured the elements (cold as a mug up in here) and sit on a concrete floor -to listen to what God would have to say. So we must be prepared to give them what God has to say not what we want to say "rightly divided" Word. 2 Timothy 2:15.
The plan is to come back here this year in November 2-7, 2016 Anand will identify
5 ministry couples - we will meet somewhere (hopefully Pokhara) and train them for 5 days - and they will reproduce the  training  all over the country. (Really looking forward to this - it is a special time when we are able to get couples together - We will teach them disciple making and how to rub feet , crack them toes back -,gonna  mess them up to the good)
Linda and Lauren taught the ladies and really set them in motion with a vision to disciple other ladies. Lauren is an adventurous capable, talented young lady and a great teacher. The ladies here are very small in stature and majority of them are skinny - so they wandered how and where Linda got her thickness (if you do not know what that means - ask a African American - thick is a good thang) I said that is babies, beans and bread(corn bread) "I ain't mad" (in some villages in Africa - mo thick means mo cows means rich daddy)
Kevin and the team will head toward the house on the 12th with a stop in Abu Dhabi  and Linda and I will head toward South Africa to be with a long time friend and missionary church planter, disciple maker - Koos Basson and his beautiful wife Jen. We will meet Jon and Traci Sullivan, Big Barrett Jones and some NFLers and their wives for a time of training and equipping. We will train and teach and do devotionals on these huge 5-10k farms for the workers before they go to work (some farms have 100s)
We will train and teach in churches and in schools.
Then end with a couple nights in a lion park (sleeping amongst the lions - they roar all night - if something goes down - I hope they are not to fond of dark meat - plus they can get more pounds on the hoof from the NFL football players)

Next week: Find someone with a need and steward your resources toward that need. (Groceries, tank of gas,help on utilities,school clothes, pair of shoes, coat,blanket,book etc...)
Last week: I wrote 2 letters
1. To my parents - letting them know how much I love and appreciate them - and them being great examples - and loving us no matter what we did or did not do
2. Christopher Williams "Big Tune" - a young man that I have had a chance to disciple for 8yrs at West Tenn. State Prison. He was Transferred to a facility in East TN.  and is establishing disciple making in that facility (Tunes field and it is a global field).
Over a 8 year period - we have had several men from Memphis  travel 90min one way once a week to disciple men at WTSP.
Now God has done a "diaspora"
A scattering - the state is transferring these guys everywhere - now the ones that caught it can disciple all over the state. God can get it done - even behind bars - if He has faithful men.

February 2016

Hello Fam,

Well it is that time again...
Time for Linda and I to tape our ankles and get feets and boots on the ground.
We gathered at Memphis International the morning of February 2 @ 3:45am. (Thanks Doc Brown for the ride)

To start a 63 day teaching and training journey. First stop is Katmandu ( we gona let it do what it do in Katmandu). We met our team leader Kevin Johnston
(Aka - K-Diddy) and 3 other Downliners to begin a 26+ hour travel to our destination. Once we are there - we will spend one night (sleeping and/or wrestling with brother and sister jet lag - who always wins the match by TKO . When Linda and I try to talk to each other on jet lag - it is like talking after you had you mouth numbed at the dentist)
We then will travel to 3 major cities in a 9 day period and train leaders in the Body to take the game beyond their borders to the Ends of the Earth till the end of time.
We about to land in Abu Dhabi - 13 hour flight from Chicago - I slept 9 of them - I look over and Linda is grinning and abiding in this airplane seat very content- crunching on some Jalapeño potato chips (she keeps a stash of goodies)  that is how it is when you rolling in The Father's pleasure - it ain't nothing like it - nothing else can match up -" ya feel me" - (pull a map and check out Abu Dhabi and Katmandu Napal it will give you a idea of where we are)
Then board again for 5 more hours and let the pilot flex our ride into Katmandu. (Father blessed us and bumped us up to business class from Abu Dhabi to Katmandu- the whole team - I told K- Diddy see if we can get the pilot to make another block to have some of this a little while longer - this happen to be the #1 voted 2015 airline in the world - they announced it while we were on the plane (but had the best cost cutter prices of anyone)
They more than lived up to their award.
We will be (somewhere around 10) hours ahead of you in the Memphis - so if you want to know what is going to happen 10 hours from now - text me and I will tell you - because I am already here - 10 hours into your future.

I will post in about a week but until then I will give you some more West Africa and a training weekend in Alabama with Jerome , some real Cowboys and with Big Barrett Jone (Alabama Tide Football 2x. All American, 3x national champion and disciple maker - we will meet him and some Other pro football players and Jon and Tracy Sullivan in South Africa on Feb 13th to hook up with long time friends Koos and Jeni Basson)

The verse I memorized came in to play several time during the terrorist deal in Burkina Faso.
I had to walk with it and lean into it several times.
I encourage you to constantly download the Scriptures on your hard drive (mind and heart) so when there is a time of need the Spirit (parakletos - called to ones aid -along side) He can pull it up from the hard drive and you will have what you need for that situation so that the Father will be glorified (His character will be displayed through you on front street)

Write a letter:
To encourage or witness to family member or friend.
God really likes the letter business - He made at least 21 of the NT personal letters.

Roy Campbell Jr (90) & Dorothy Campbell.
He got pneumonia 2 weeks ago - he is over it now but got physically weak in the legs - he is spending 2 weeks in a local nursing home for rehab and get his weight up to get home - he is progressing very well - highly motivated to get to the house to drive his truck to the country store where his buddies are to tell fishing stories.
2. The trainees hearts would be illuminated - and they would see the world from The Father's point of view  Ephesians 1:18 "enlightened" NASB
3. Translation will be clear
Translator is the key - without a translator there is no communication

You that have given and invested to make these trips and trainings a reality - one week ago we did not have enough cheese to complete the trips ground cost portion (airfares were covered) but we were going to have to sleep standing up in a corner somewhere and catch stray chickens and eat them I guess (Linda could probably run one or two chickens down) and wash some dishes or something.
But you listened to the Spirit and gave and we have this portion of the trips ground cost taken care of - Thank you!!!!

We departed Ouagadougou on Saturday evening at 5:30pm arrive Paris 12 midnight - We get to spend the night in Paris (on the airline) off the chain man.
We get into Memphis on Sunday evening

Hello Family and Friends


Linda and I are in transit to Memphis from West Africa


January 15th.

We had a small snag on the front end of our travel.
We had checked into the airport in Ouagadougou,Burkina Faso
And we're in the Air France Lounge (thanks to the sky miles)
Chilling with about 45minutes till  boarding.
Linda looked up at the TV and saw breaking news and there was fire and shooting at a building (we could not understand what they were saying (French).
But the building and lights display on the building looked very familiar. We passed it on our way to the airport. It was only 1km from the airport.
Terrorist attacked the hotel and restaurant - the airport canceled
All flights.


So here Linda and I - cannot speak or understand French. The airport became chaotic. I figured my best option was to go to the ticket counter and see if I could find the 3 broken English speaking agents (they were gone)


While standing there a guy from Washington DC (just turned and ask) do you speak any  French - I replied no - he said just listen in as I talk to the agent.
"The Lord is always right on time man" - the agent did not have any info at the time - but gave a couple phone numbers to call.
Linda and I figured our best option to stay in the airport (secure place)  and get back to the Air France Lounge (food, water, Fanta, couches) so we negotiated our way back to the  Lounge.
The Lord worked it all out just right. We hope to get a flight out in the morning January 16.
Like Bro Herb Hodges says (the man that has discipled me for 27 yrs)

The Holy Spirit Illuminated hearts and opened eyes to Jesus "Great Commission"  with many making the statement "I see"
The medical team attended many patients from the school and the near by village.
We taught on the importance of the men loving their wives (Ephesians 5:25) - we taught them how to rub them feet and crack them toes and encourage them with tender words - the wives loved it - many said it was the first time they experienced that display of tenderness from their husband "ever"
The ladies really appreciated having their sessions taught by ladies (Linda Campbell,Malinda McIntire,Amanda Farmer.

Prayer needs:1. The trainees will continue to deepen their understanding of what it means to make disciples
(By making disciples)
2. The couples navigating life together and growth together in a tough environment, hard work and raising kids
3. The men would continue to love and serve their wives
4. That Linda and I get home this week5. Linda and I have 14 International training locations on the schedule through April (February 2-April 6)
Need 10k for ground cost to complete the task
6. That we recover quickly from jet lag to roll again in 2 weeks
7. Teaching in Tuscaloosa Alabama - January 22-24.

2016 Travel log

January 1-16 - West Africa
Burkina Faso and Niger

Departed the airport Memphis TN. - 12 noon - January 1
Arrive at lodging in Ouagadogou, Burkina Faso - 25-1/2 hours of travel later on

January 2
Bed down

Up @ 7am - January 3
Depart Ouagadougou @ 10:30am

Travel 13-1/2 Hours (320 kilometers) - (192miles) By automobile (dusty/pot hole roads) to the village Nadiabonli

Started a 5 day teaching venue on January 4th - 8am - 5pm.

Daily - Medical clinics at night.

We are living in mud huts and showering under the stars using wood fire warmed water (off the chain man) with the opportunity to train and equip (95 couples) (only 5 singles) in a 2yr residential

Program - all very receptive and eager to receive the teaching and obey the Word of God.

Pray Requests:
1. Strength for the team in the travel weariness and jet lag
2. Opening of eyes and ears and illumination of the heart
3. That the Translation will be precise and correct
4. Linda Campbell, Malinda McIntire ,Amanda Farmer as they teach the ladies
5. Dr. Michael Farmer, Dr.Shaun McIntire & 4th yr. Medical Student Tim Boswell
As they teach by day and do medical clinics at night partnering with a Dr. and team from Ouagadougou.
6. The directors of the school
Dr. Joel Thiombiano , Dr. John Lompo, Dr. Moses Lankaonde
7. The kids (strong diligent servants and workers) who chase down our meal everyday (chickens) and prepare them for consumption and gather firewood and tote water for cooking and bathing.
